Hello Somebody

Good morning everyone! Today I want to share with you something a bit different. Have you heard of the amazing movement called Hello Somebody? I found out about this cause thanks to Twitter (and users like Jon Acuff and Carlos Whittaker.) The first time I read about their story, I was moved to tears.

Here is some of what they share in the “Our Story” section of their website, to give you an idea of what’s going on:

In the Spring of 2009 one of the original Co-Founders of Hello Somebody, was on a mission trip in Honduras. While feeding people there, he encountered children who preferred food over toys. His host, Jimmy Hughes’ tagline when he spoke was “hello somebody,” which he used almost as a question for people to become aware of those around them who were in need. This tagline would ring through his dreams, in the voices of the children he had met…”Hello Somebody. Is anyone listening?” His call to action was to feed a million meals in one calendar year. In early 2010, after sharing his dream with many people, he met Manny Martinez Co-Founder and CEO of Hello Somebody, who was serving on crisis relief teams to Haiti. Together, they launched the Hello Somebody movement.

Awesome people like Bryce Avery (of one-man-band The Rocket Summer) have gotten behind this movement, a long with others to support this cause.

Right now, their website has a special combo deal: a staff-picked tank and watch for only $20! I just ordered mine yesterday, and I’m so excited for it to come. The cool thing about these products is you’re supporting the cause through purchase, and bringing attention. When people ask about the watch or shirt you’re wearing you’ll be able to tell them about how this organization helps raise awareness and bring relief to hungry children.
